You don’t have to venture far from the Greater Toronto Area to find yourself in Ontario’s ‘Cottage Country’. An hour north of Toronto’s metropolitan scene, in the area surrounding Lake Simcoe you can be enjoying many diverse activities, attractions and experiences. Lounging on a beach at Sibbald Point Provincial Park in the south Lake Simcoe area, shopping in the waterfront communities of Orillia or Barrie, hiking, biking or fishing on the many streams, rivers and lakes in the area.

Lake Simcoe, Lake Couchiching and the Trent Severn Waterway provide much in terms of water activities. The assets of the area are abundant, none of them more perfect than the sparkling lakes, rivers and streams. Some of the best boating, paddling and water sports can be found in this area. No matter the time of year, on the ice or in a boat, Lake Simcoe fishing can be spectacular.

Orillia is a must-see tourism destination. Historic Downtown Orillia’s streets are lined with unique dining opportunities and shops. Just steps away from downtown is the picturesque waterfront located on Lake Couchiching, perfect for recreational activities and where you can visit the Stephen Leacock House & Museum in Orillia to learn more about Canada’s renowned author and academic, Stephen Leacock (1869-1944).

Not far from town is the home of Rama First Nations where you’ll enjoy Casino Rama. Their luxury hotel, non-stop excitement, live performances and authentic native shops will be just as attractive as the gaming opportunities.

Barrie, located on Kempenfeldt Bay is an easily accessed and popular destination for Torontonians. The city is diverse in character, offering all the modern conveniences without losing its historic charm. TThe east side of Lake Simcoe is where you’ll find the communities of Beaverton, Brechin and Lagoon City. And along the south side of the lake, the vibrant communities of Sutton, Jackson’s Point, Pefferlaw and Keswick. These small towns and their rural landscapes are on the picturesque shores of Lake Simcoe. The sunsets are remarkable!
