Our Team

Jan

Jan graduated from Laurentian University (a very long time ago..) and became the manager of Rainbow Country Travel Association, responsible for marketing the tourism product in the Parry Sound through Sudbury area. Jan then became the Director of the Tourism Ontario Accommodation Grading Program, responsible for the management of the program which set out to evaluate, rate and market commercial accommodation throughout the province of Ontario. With Blain, she started Cottage Country Management Services Inc. in June 1988. (TICO Certification: T713717)

One day she’s going to publish a book on the quirky and funny things that have happened in those 30 years!

Blain

Blain became involved in the Tourism Ontario Accommodation Grading Program in 1981 and was responsible for the evaluation and star rating of over 1,500 resorts, hotels and inns in all corners of Ontario. Familiarity with all regions of the province and the opportunity to be the first to assist the cottage owners in generating income from their waterfront cottages led he and Jan to the business that they still own and operate today. If you can’t find Blain behind a computer screen at the office or at home – he’s either pursuing his photography hobby or is on the golf course struggling in a sand trap!!

Anneliese

Anneliese, our office manager, has worked at Cottagerental.com since 2009 after working in Marketing in the Toronto area. A McMaster University graduate, she earned a degree in Social Science and a minor in Modern Languages. Anneliese is part of two teams that visit prospective cottage properties to meet property owners, make recommendations and create the cottage profile for the web page. It’s part of her job that she really enjoys. Anneliese received her certificate of TICO (Travel Industry Council of Ontario T772936) Education Standards as well as the Supervisor/Manager credentials.

In her spare time, she is a volunteer for Uxbridge Minor Lacrosse. She enjoys attending both hockey and lacrosse games to support her 2 sons. Anneliese has also been a competitive swimming coach, lifeguard and swim instructor. She likes running, cross country skiing and spending time with her family. Anneliese looks forward to finding new and innovative ways to work in the online travel industry.

Karen

Karen, our assistant manager, comes to us with a background in Graphic Design and Advertising. She joined our team in 2009 and has received her certificate of TICO (Travel Industry Council of Ontario) Education Standards (TICO Certification: T729002) Karen brings a genuine love and enthusiasm for cottage life. Having had a family cottage for many years, she brings a love of cottage living to her work.

Karen is also part of a team that visits cottages with the responsibility of photography and creating web pages. Karen really enjoys getting out of the office and experiencing cottage country in all it’s diversity.

Karen resides in Uxbridge with her husband and two boys. When she’s not at work she can most likely be found in an arena somewhere in Ontario supporting her children’s hockey. Her interests include design and renovating, photography, snowboarding and weekends at her family cottage on Little Hawk Lake in Haliburton.

Janice

Janice started with CottageRental.com in October 2013. Janice has an automotive office background, and is very comfortable working with all levels of clients and the public. She is happy to answer your cottage rental questions and help gather the information you require to ensure your cottage vacation is a great experience for you and your family. Janice is registered with the Travel Counsel Industry of Ontario (TICO Certification: T747321).

In her spare time, Janice likes to grow gladiolus and tend to her flower gardens. She is constantly striving to improve her golf swing, but that has yet to happen.

Jane

Jane has been with us since January of 2017 after spending 20 years as an Early Childhood Educator. She has obtained her TICO Education Standards Certificate (T772936).

She loves to help families find their perfect cottage rental getaway and is always available to help answer any questions you may have. As a mother of four children, Jane knows how important it is to make great family memories that will last a lifetime and is delighted to help make those memories happen. In her spare time, Jane enjoys gardening and fishing with her family. In the cold winter months, you can find her snuggling by the fire with her two Boxer pups.
