It’s hard to believe that the last weeks of summer are upon us! Escape the city and enjoy some of what Cottage Country has to offer!

There is still lots to do in Cottage Country this month. One of the biggest events of course is the Havelock Country Jamboree August 13-16. This year you will hear from a line-up of musicians including Clint Black, Big & Rich, Gord Bamford, Tanya Tucker and Brent Kissel!

If country music is not your style you might want to check out Elora’s Bissell Park Ribfest.  With acts like Bruce Cockburn, Alan Doyle of Great Big Sea, Metric, Sharon Jones and Dap Kings and an extra day this year with the even running August 14-16.

OperaMuskoka is hosting ‘Stars of Tomorrow’ concert August 17-20 at the Rene M. Caisse Memorial Theatre where you can enjoy the music of Broadway, opera and operetta with both professional and talented young singers.

If comedy is what you are looking for, Bracebridge is the place to be.  August 19th you can see  ‘Seasoned Comedy With Ben Miner’ at The Griffin Pub.  August 20th you can see ‘Best of the Fest with K Trevor Wilson’ at The Thirsty Judge. August 21st is ‘Girls Night Out Comedy Show’ at the Muskoka Riverside Inn.

Gravenhurst is also the home of comedy with ‘The Rude Dudes’ August 22nd at The Gravenhurst Opera House. Also on August 22nd you can see ‘Tim Steeves’ at The Gravenhurst Opera House.

For those who like to get some exercise Haliburton hosts ‘Mountain Bike Sunday Morning Race Series’ at Sir Sam’s Ski and Bike. Prizes awarded for different ages and categories following 5km & 10km cross country races. Stand Up Paddleboarding is also offered every Saturday at Rotary Beach.
If in the Midland area be sure to visit the Midland Cultural Centre with shows on everything from ‘Woodstock’, ‘Love you Forever’ by Robert Munsch to the ‘Ed Sullivan Tribute’. Fun for the whole family. There is also Music in the Park every Sunday!

Orillia is home to the ‘Rama First Nation Powwow August 22nd & 23rd, ‘Starry Night Studio Tour’ August 22nd, ‘Lighthouse’ concert August 19th at The Orillia Opera House and one of the best Rib Fests around August 28th – 30th at Tudhope Park!

There is still time to book a last minute cottage rental and enjoy warm days, cooler nights and a chance to check out these great events!
